I remember that at age 7 I started to be more aware of what I was eating.I I tasted the little red fellas at a younger age(probably at age 5), camouflage by a warmed hand made corn tortilla, and maybe blended with the mouth watering melted Oaxacan cheese. We visited my grandmother Marcelina every summer to bring her goods from Mexico City, in exchange she always received us with her wide open arms, a beautiful smile, and her very best water hot chocolate. I will never remember the exactly day when I ate my first grasshopper, but when I am eating them for sure I remember my mother and my sweet and beautiful grandmother. It s not the insects that I ate, it is the memories that I treasure. However is a good source of protein.
